Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for WestConnex Stuart Ayres announced that two joint ventures have been shortlisted for the design and build of the M4-M5 Link mainline tunnel.

John Holland CPB Contractors JV and Lend Lease Samsung Bouygues JV have been selected to tender for the mainline tunnel which will stretch from Haberfield to St Peters, creating an underground western bypass of Sydney CBD.

Construction of the M4-M5 link is scheduled to commence in 2018.

In other news, the widened M4 which stretches over 8kms is scheduled to open on Saturday 15 July 2017 and is hoped to limit congestion for commuters driving between Church Street Parramatta and Homebush Bay Drive, Homebush. Drivers will be able to utilise the widened section of road toll free for a month.
