In line with the $100 million Fixing Country Roads Program, the Victorian Government is set to improve local roads and all 48 of Victoria’s regional councils will help in bridge strengthening, road rehabilitation and resealing, and road safety improvement works.
With the program funding up to 91 projects across Victoria, round one will include rebuilding the Murphy Street and Strickland Road roundabout in Bendigo to cater for larger freight vehicles, construction and resealing of Flynns Creek Road in Latrobe City, bridge strengthening at Cape Otway Road in the Surf Coast Shire, and rebuilding and widening of Perkins Road at Lara in the City of Geelong.
In addition, up to $70 million in funding is going to be available to councils that will have eligible projects for the second round of the Fixing Country Roads Program.
Round one works will be delivered by June of next year and projects under the second round will be delivered by June 2020.
