Approximately $200 million has been allocated by the Queensland Government towards the Rockhampton Ring Road project, with the Australian Government also committing $800 million for its delivery.

With the aim of boosting economic activity in the region, improving flood immunity and building an efficient and safe bypass around the city for heavy vehicles and through traffic, the Rockhampton Ring Road project is anticipated to create up to 780 jobs in the region.

Once completed, the project will be providing a western link of the Bruce Highway to the west of Rockhampton. The link includes to the city via Capricorn Highway, Ridgelands Road, Alexandra Street and Yaamba Road (Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road).
