$70m worth of projects set to roll out across regional QLD

The Queensland government has announced that expressions of interest are again open for the $365 million regional infrastructure construction fund. Local councils now have four weeks, from Monday the 5th of August to the 30th of August, to submit expressions of interest to gain access to the funds.
There are some conditions for any proposals put forward; they must be construction projects or infrastructure planning projects and be capable of commencing construction by April 30th, 2020. Some examples provided include infrastructure for commercial or industrial precincts, water, sewage and waste infrastructure projects that provide a direct economic benefit to an industrial, commercial or tourist development, or alternative energy infrastructure.
These projects all tie into the government’s plan to develop regional infrastructure to create more job opportunities. $295 million has already been invested towards 223 projects across regional areas, supporting more than 2,400 jobs.
Projects shortlisted to progress to the business case stage under round five are expected to be announced in September 2019.
