Approval Granted for Sydney Metro’s Twin Tunnels

Approval has been granted for the construction of Sydney Metro’s twin tunneling system that will connect commuters travelling between Chatswood, the CBD, Sydney and Bankstown.

Preparation works for the Sydney CBD sites has been scheduled for commencement this year with the commencement of tunneling occurring in 2018.

The proposed tunnels will deliver over 32 km’s of new metro rail, with 15.5 km of rail stretching underneath Sydney Harbour and the CBD.

The new system will also see the construction of several new rail stations, which will be located  in Crows Nest, Victoria Cross (North Sydney), Barangaroo, Martin Place, Pitt St, Central (new underground platforms) and Waterloo.

Once finished, the Sydney Metro will provide a more efficient service with a new train arriving every two minutes in each direction within the CBD.
