By on 02 November 2018

Expression of Interest (EOI) officially opened for submission to tender for the contract to design and build vital elements on the Warrnambool and Geelong line upgrades in Victoria.

Works on the $160 million Geelong Line upgrade will include an additional track at Waurn Ponds to enable trains to pass each other, upgrading the Waurn Ponds station with a pedestrian link and second platform and planning for Armstrong Creek transit corridor to consider future land use, environmental issues and development and population risk. Construction is set to begin in 2020 and due for completion in 2021.

On the other hand, the $114 million Warrnambool Line upgrade will include construction of a new crossing loop, upgrading signalling between Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool, level crossing upgrades, and new train stabling facilities at Warrnambool. Construction will commence by late 2019 and expected to be completed by late 2020.

Both projects are overseen by Rail Project Victoria (RPV).
