Funding fast-tracks road upgrade works

As new homes are being delivered in the coming years, an $80 million funding boost will drive construction of two road upgrades in South West Sydney.

Minister for Planning and Housing noted the importance of improving key infrastructure in the MacArthur region as new communities and homes continue to be constructed in Edmondson Park now and over the next few years.

Established in 2012, the government’s Housing Acceleration Fund (HAF) has set aside more than $1.5 billion for projects to fund infrastructure such as roads, transport water and electricity to fast-track housing supply. The fund has also contributed $55.4 million for the Campbelltown and Bernera Road upgrades.

To ensure an additional $25.8 million is directed to the Campbelltown Road upgrades, the NSW governments has worked with Landcom, a landowner at Edmondson Park.

For the upgrade of Bernera Road – formerly Croatia Avenue – the NSW government is also contributing another $15.4 million.
