Horsham roundabout construction works on VIC’s Western Highway begin
By Scott Dywer on 05 October 2018
Construction on the safety upgrade to the Horsham roundabout – one of the busiest intersections along the Western Highway in regional Victoria – has officially commenced.
Upgrade works will include installing safer surfaces and crossing points for pedestrians and cyclists, improving signage to make it easier for vehicles to navigate the roundabout, prioritising traffic on the Western Highway by separating Melbourne-bound and Adelaide-bound lanes from the rest of the intersection, among others.
With upgrade works expected to be completed by the end of the year, the project aims to deliver major benefits for freight operators, motorists, local producers, improve safety as well as traffic flow at the busy intersection and deliver a number of changes that will help keep traffic moving and reduce driver errors.
Jointly funded by the Victorian and Australian Governments, the upgrade to the Horsham roundabout is part of the $20 million Western Highway – Stawell to South Australia Border Upgrade project.
