As part of the $972 million Melbourne Park redevelopment, demolition works are now underway for the Stage 3 of the project.
The redevelopment project will feature pre-event spaces, interview rooms, a 200-seat auditorium and broadcast studios which aim to make way for the construction of a new function and media centre. It will also include the construction of a new multi-purpose, 5000 seat sunken court arena and a central logistics hub.
In addition, the project also aims to keep Melbourne Park classified as a world-class sport and entertainment precinct to guarantee the Australian Open remains in Melbourne until at least 2036.
Stage 3 works are set for completion in time for the 2023 Australian Open.
