With Martin Place project set to transform Sydney’s first integrated metro station development, a $378.6 million construction contract for the new Sydney Metro railway station at Martin Place has been awarded to Macquarie Group.
Included in the new Martin Place Station development are a new underground pedestrian link between the existing suburban and intercity Martin Place Station platforms and the metro station platforms, a new bike parking on Castlereagh Street at both entries, wayfinding signage and Sydney metro information, retaining the existing bus stops on Elizabeth and Castlereagh streets and retaining the existing taxi ranks near the station.
Macquarie Group appointed Lendlease to design and construct the new underground station as well as the retail space, pedestrian connections and building towers above the station.
Sydney Metro services are set to commence in the second quarter of 2019 in the city’s north west region.
