Sydney’s largest aquatic centre built since the 2000 Olympics, is set to begin construction. The news comes more than three years after local architect Andrew Burges’ “beach pool” concept was selected as the winning design for the aquatic centre, in a design competition run by the council. The aquatic centre will include a 50-metre outdoor heated pool, a 25-metre indoor pool and an indoor heated water area and hydrotherapy pool.
CPB Contractors have been appointed to build the $84 million Gunyama Park and Aquatic Centre.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the complex would be a drawcard for Green Square locals and visitors. Locals in the Green Square Precinct will soon be enjoying the pools as early as 2020.
